Iran authorities hang 10 men .

Tehran, Jan. 19 – Iranian authorities on Wednesday hanged 10 men in the city of Karaj, west of Tehran, state media reported.

All 10 were hanged in a Rajai-Shahr Prison, according to the state-run news agency ISNA. They were accused of drug trafficking.

The men were identified as: Youness Aqanejad, Sadeq Geravand, Teimour-Shah Karimi, Abdollah Hanareh Khalyani, Hossein Feizizadeh Amre’allah, Amir-Ali Mohammadi, Saffar Karami Gonjeh, Alireza Ramazani, Mohammad Mehdi Ahmadi, Qassem Asgharzadeh.

A statement released Tuesday by a local branch of the judiciary said Ali K. was hanged in prison in the town of Zarand, in the southern province of Kerman, accused of drug trafficking.

Authorities routinely execute dissidents on bogus charges such as armed robbery and drug trafficking.

There has been a sharp rise in executions in Iran in the past several weeks.
