Amir Kabir University Student Yaser Turkeman Transferred to Evin Prison

Yaser Turkeman who is earning his Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from Amir Kabir University, has been transferred to Evin Prison in order to serve his one year prison sentence.

RAHANA: Amir Kabir University student, Yaser Turkeman, who was sentenced to one year in prison for ant-regime propaganda by Judge Mirabbas, has been transferred to the Evin Prison in order to serve his sentence.

According to Daneshjou-News, he was working on his thesis before being transferred to the prison. Despite his detainment, and his one-semester suspension from the University, he was able to satisfy the units required for graduation.

Yaser Turkeman and 9 other Amir Kabir University student activists were detained several times in February of 2008 and March of 2009. He was held in the solitary confinement unit of Ward 209 and 240 for 50 days.

He is a former member of Amir Kabir University Islamic Association. He was charged with ant- regime propaganda and his one year sentence, issued by the 26th branch of the Revolutionary Court, was upheld by the appeals court.

The judge denied the request to suspend his prison sentence until his graduation. He was transferred to Ward 350 to serve his sentence.
