STOP EXECUTIONS IN IRAN
To the mullahs regime of Iran and the international community
We, the undersigned, call for an immediate end to executions in Iran and for the abolition of the death penalty.
Every human life has value. No government should have the power to take a person's life through execution. We are deeply concerned about the continued use of the death penalty in Iran, including against political prisoners, protesters and people convicted after proceedings that may not meet internationally recognized standards of justice.
We call on the Iranian authorities to:
Immediately stop all executions.
Commute all existing death sentences.
End the use of the death penalty.
Guarantee fair and transparent trials for all defendants.
Ensure that prisoners have access to independent legal representation.
End executions carried out following unfair or coercive proceedings.
Respect the fundamental human rights and dignity of every person.
We also call upon governments, international organizations and human-rights institutions around the world to use every available peaceful and diplomatic means to pressure the Iranian authorities to stop executions and protect the lives of those facing the death penalty.
