The Iranian regime executed 200 people in September 2025, the highest number in 36 years

200 executions in September 2025 — the highest figure in 36 years, 2.5 times the number in September 2024 and seven times that of 2023. Khamenei, now the world record holder in executions, began October with at least 14 executions (Wednesday, 1 October 2025). Registered executions during the first nine months of 2025 reached 1,200, while the total number of executions in all of 2024 was 1,001.

In an unprecedented record-breaking period, the regime’s judiciary, acting on Khamenei’s orders, hanged at least 200 prisoners—including six women—in September 2025, the highest number of executions in a single month in 36 years. The number of executions that month is roughly 2.5 times that of September 2024, when 84 executions took place, and seven times that of September 2023, when 29 executions were carried out.
