The religious dictatorship ruling Iran hanged 10 prisoners today, Monday, October 22, arbitrarily en mass. This happened while none of the victims had due process of law and a fair trial.
Families of the prisoners had staged protests in front of governmental offices repeatedly, calling for justice and a public and fair trial to review the charges that were attributed to the victims. The hangings took place while scores of international organizations including UN rapporteurs had asked for these cruel sentences not to be implemented.
Saeed Sadighi, one of the victims was sentenced in a court that lasted only a few minutes and even during the sham trial, he rejected all the charges while exposing the tortures and duress that he was subjected to.
The religious fascism ruling Iran, engulfed with economic crisis, growing international isolation, widespread and unprecedented social discontent, is trying to contain growing public discontent to avert its downfall by stepping up the reign of terror and repression, particularly mass hangings. The number of executions has been on the rise this year incredibly. Amnesty International announced on October 9 that 344 people had been executed in Iran since the start of 2012. With the all the unannounced executions, the real number of executions is much higher.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the UN Security Council to review the cruel and systematic human rights violations in Iran, in particular the arbitrary executions and calls for formation of an international tribunal to put the leaders of the regime on trial. Ali Khamenei, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and other leaders of the regime are criminals against humanity and war criminals for committing innumerable executions, massacring Iranian refugees and protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention in Ashraf, massacring innocent people of Syria and Iraq, continuation of war against Iraq and in particular dispatching hundreds of thousands of juveniles on mine fields and sanctioning hundreds of terrorist operations.
