Hamed Omidi Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison and Banned from Education

Hamed Omidid, a Technology student at Allameh University was sentenced to 3 years in prison for assembly and conspiracy against national security.

According to the Human Rights Committee Reporters, he has been sentenced to 3 years in prison for assembly and conspiracy against national security based on Article 610 of the Islamic Penal Code. He has been detained for over 6 months. The only evidence used against him was a videotape from the protests in Tehran University. Judge Moghiseh decided to give him the maximum sentence since he was in the front row, holding the picture of the individuals who were convicted. In addition to senetnecing him to 3 years in prison, the judge banned him from continuing his studies in any university.

Hamed Omidi is a student of Allameh University who was detained on February 10th after protesting the execution of Ehsan Fatahian. He has been held in Ward 209 of Evin Prison since then.
